Rare and valuable plants
Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family, widely known as a natural sugar substitute. It is native to South America, but today it is actively cultivated in many countries, including Asian regions.
The main value of stevia is its leaves, which contain natural sweet compounds (steviosides), which are ten times sweeter than sugar and contain virtually no calories.
